My clinical counseling is grounded in theology. Author Ricard Carter suggests religious and spiritual counseling as integrating psychological and theological concepts. Therefore, R/S counseling serves as a "bedrock" for strengthening one's meaning in life. We assist those dealing with traumatic issues to reformulate their natural resilience to move forward and flourish in their lives.
We listen without judgment. We aim to help you understand how you and your environment have interacted positively and negatively.
We assist with:
They are generally described as “solution-focused, short-term” R/S counseling. This form of psychology centers on a client’s concern and seeks to resolve the issue by enhancing their resiliency skills. This often produces a reduction or achievable alternative to the initial problem. Most spiritual counselors agree, “The client owns the problem. Therefore, they also own the solution”.
In other words, R/S works best when the client holds a working concept of how this issue has arisen and understands what they would like to have happen to resolve it. PC seeks to modify behavior with guided thinking.
Typically, R/S counseling creates a 4-week session to assess problems, collaborate on potential resolutions, role-play, and self-guided homework, with quarterly follow-up sessions.
Please be advised that R/S is not for everyone.
Historically, it has worked best for those who already:
· Hold a religious/spiritual background
· Hold a reasonable set of active communication skills
· Hold hope-filled expectations of themselves
· Hold a sound support system
· Hold success in past acute/chronic personal issues
· Hold high motivation to bring about positive change with self
